| In the great hall you see a brown, shrivelled old hat sitting on a stool at the front. This is the sorting ceremony. You sit on the stool and wonder which house you are going to be sorted into. The hat begins to speak and recites a song...

| The Headmaster's office is the office in Hogwarts Castle in which the current headmasters or headmistresses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry work during the school year. It is reached by means of a circular, moving stone staircase, which in turn is concealed by a gargoyle on the third floor. The gargoyle will step aside in response to a password: Sherbet Lemon.

| The Entrance Hall floods with students in the rush for the next class, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and to get back to the commons. The dungeons, Grand Staircase, kitchens, Dining Hall, and Hufflepuff common room can be accessed through the Entrance Hall as well. You can recall the Goblet of Fire, from the year of '94, when Victor Krum, Cedric Diggory, Fluer Delacour, and Harry Potter were chosen to compete in the Tri-Wizard tournament, as well as your Sorting Ceremony.

| The hospital wing at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is run by Madam Poppy Pomfrey, the school's matron. Students (and presumably the staff) who suffer mishaps and injuries during the school year are sent or brought to the hospital wing for treatment, and only six visitors are allowed at one time for one person. The hospital wing is well equipped to deal with all kinds of magical and mundane injuries, from broken limbs to regrowing lost bones.

| As you walk past a painting in desperation for somewhere to be yourself, it starts to glow. You stop, noticing the strange activity. Knobs and knockers to a golden door appear from the wall as it shifts, you watch in complete awe of it all. As soon the the wall stops changing shape, you step forward and unlock it with a wave of your wand. You push open the door, and looks around. Everything you ever needed is there. You have entered the Room of Requirement. Training of DA is held here.

| The Forbidden Forest borders the edges of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry grounds. As its name suggests, it is strictly off limits to students - except in the case of detention, or Care of Magical Creatures lessons that occasionally take place there. Of course, with the various dangerous creatures living in the Forest, few students would even want to venture into it.

| You walk into your Charms class, where the rest of your piers and Professor Jordan is waiting. You take your seat and quickly engage yourself in the lesson. Charms is a subject taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Unsurprisingly, it specialises in the teaching of charms such as Wingardium Leviosa, Accio and Aguamenti. Though mastering the science of charmwork is clearly essential to performing the greater part of magic, charmwork is seen as a "softer option" to some.

| D.A.D.A. broadly focuses on preparing the student so that they may be able to—if such need arises—magically defend themselves against things pertaining to the Dark Arts. This may include: Learning how to block unfriendly spells; and learning how to defeat dark, magical beasts (like the Boggart). However, as D.A.D.A. teachers came and went at Hogwarts annually it produced inconsistent learning from year to year, as the quality, style of teaching and exact choice of subject matter varies widely from teacher to teacher.

| Herbology is the study of magical and mundane plants and fungi. In Herbology, students learn to care for and utilize plants, and learn about their magical properties, and what they are used for. Many plants provide ingredients for potions and medicine, while others have magical effects of their own right.
These classes are held in the grounds of Hogwarts, in the greenhouses. The greenhouses are located below the two main Bell Towers of the castle. Classes are held in different greenhouses depending on the students' year, with more advanced and dangerous plants typically reserved for O.W.L. or N.E.W.T.-level study.

| Divination was a branch of magic that involved attempting to foresee the future, or gather insights into future events, through various rituals and tools. Seers or Seeress' are the people who have a gift for prophecy. Non- Seer(ess') are taught divination, but success varies. Divination is taught as an elective subject from the third year on at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Centaurs have a way of practising divination distinct from that of humans, apparently mainly based around observing the movement of planets, moons, and stars, which they had been doing for centuries by '96. It can take up to a decade for centaurs to understand what these celestial portents meant. They may attempt to narrow their prediction of when an event will take place by burning certain herbs, such as sage and mallowsweet, and looking for various shapes and symbols in the fumes.

| You flick your gaze rapidly up and down the streets of Diagon Alley, carrying on with your shopping. Suddenly, you see a tattered old building with a sign above that reads "Olivander's Wands." You figure the store has been around for decades, noticing the grimy windows and rotting building wood planks. You rest your hand on the heavy door and swing it open, a bell rings and a cheerful old man assists you with the finding of your destined wand.
